Liposuction
Liposuction has steadily gained popularity and is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures performed today.
Liposuction offers the possibility of reshaping the body with the selective removal of fat from the abdomen, hips, flanks, thighs, and arms. With the introduction of the SAFE Liposuction technique, the possibility of contour irregularities is significantly reduced.
In an effort to improve the results and truly sculpt shapes, I have adapted the practice of High Definition Liposculpting. With this technique, it has become possible to frame various muscle groups and create a more athletic physique rather than simply remove excess fat, in fact, I now use this approach with all my clients. In some cases, the removed fat is processed and immediately grafted to augment selected muscle groups.
Liposuction is a safe procedure. While it is difficult to predict the degree of bruising, one should be prepared for this possibility and all bruising resolves by 10-14 days. In cases where large volumes of tumescent fluids are used, an overnight stay may be recommended.
In my practice, I prefer to mark clients in my office the day before surgery. I find the relaxed environment of our office affords clients the opportunity to provide input into the design of the operation. I tend to use a color-coding system to precisely identify the areas and depth of treatment — which prompts many of my clients to remark that they feel like an artist’s canvas.
I perform the majority of my liposuction procedures in an accredited outpatient surgical facility. Clients are discharged after a 2-3 hour recovery. Results become apparent as the swelling subsides in 10-14 days. Full recovery is in the 3-6 week range.
