RAI Reconstructive Services
The Specialty of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery emerged as a distinct sub-specialty of Surgery around World War II and Reconstructive Surgery remains an integral and important part of the specialty of Plastic Surgery.
Plastic Surgeons worldwide continue to provide their respective communities with surgical services encompassing the entire body in patients of all ages.
Many techniques pioneered by Plastic Surgeons continue to be adopted by our surgical colleagues in other specialties such as transplant surgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, and microsurgery etc. In fact, the discipline of Aesthetic Surgery is firmly grounded in principles derived from reconstructive surgery.
I dedicated the first several years of my practice to Reconstructive Surgery and continue to provide reconstructive services ranging from breast reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction, and complex wound care. As part of my practice, I continue to offer free-tissue transfers, such as the DIEP-flap for breast reconstruction, and have performed hundreds of microsurgical reconstructions since 2008. In my previous practice, I served as a Clinical Instructor in Orthopedics, Director of Reconstructive Services and as a member of the AO Craniofacial International Faculty. I have been an invited speaker on the topic Limb Salvage for the Foundation for Orthopedic Research and Education (FORE).
We are pleased to continue to offer reconstructive surgeries for a variety of conditions.
